Addison walked to the grounds preparing to teach her class. Addison was actually quite nervous. This was going to be one of the few classes she was continuing to run during the break. The weather was kind of dull. It thankfully was not raining or snowing. But the sky was overcast, and it felt like it was minus 20 celsius.

Addison decided a bright yellow sweater under her winter robe, and had a yellow pair of earmuffs on.

Addison had a plate of warm sugar heart cookies and hot apple cider on the table at her side. Beside the table, a massive pile of empty pots and bags of dirt lay there, waiting for the students.

Addison stood smiling as she waited for students to arrive, observing her mandrakes with loving pride.

((OOC: Welcome to our Herbology activity lesson. This is not an official lesson, but it will be run like one. Standard in-character behaviour rules apply. It is open to all years. You will be give opportunities to develop RP skills. If there are any questions, feel free to PM me. ))

Charles was a true Ravenclaw. He was sick of waiting around and having no classes. And people weren't even causing enough problems to make his prefect duties interesting. So Charles was thrilled when he saw the announcement.

Charles ran down as quickly as he could in his winter uniform. He had a blue tuke keeping his head warm, and cute eagle gloves. His prefect badge was pinned proudly on his robe. The robes were not particularly warm, so he was wearing three layers of clothes.

Charles said good morning to Professor Higgins, and then grabbed a glass of cider and sugar cookies. Charles thought the cider warmed him up nicely as he looked at the plants, hoping he would not have to actually replant them. He liked Herbology, but not really actually getting dirty.

Grace walked into the Herbology classroom. There, she saw Prof. Higgins waiting for her. Grace was wearing her regular school uniform with a red and yellow striped scarf wrapped around her neck. There were about 20 mandrakes set on tables in front of her. She gasped.

Zelda wouldn't normally jump to anything that had to do with school, but for some reason she wanted to go to this little activity going on. Who knew what kind of plant that Prof. Higgins was going to introduce to her students, although with Zelda being a sixth year she was sure it wouldn't be anything new, this didn't mean that she couldn't have any fun.

The young girl got dressed according to the weather, which wouldn't be so bad if it was at least snowing, but no, it was the harsh cold of winter without the fun leaving her aching in her bones from the chills, but she preferred it over the heat any day. After putting on her gray tweed jacket, black skirt, gray leggings and her brown winter boots, she topped it off with a loose, brown accent belt and slid on her winter robe, always proud to show off her Slytherin pride.

Zelda skipped up the stairs and out of the castle, wand in hand, sending sparks in the air (and towards some ickle firsties for that matter). When she got to the hut where the lesson was, she turned to Prof. Higgins as she put her wand back in her robes. "And how are you doing on this fine day Prof. Higgins?" Fine day, yeah right, it was freezing outside! The sixth year knew that all the professors knew who she was, she got in enough trouble for them not to, the only problem was, she could never remember who she was on good and bad terms with.

Addison smiled at each student as they came in. It was a pretty small number of students, but it was fine. It was indeed cold. Addison smiled at the young prefect who said good morning and replied Good morning Mr. Harris.

A young lion came down to the hut. Addison had some sympathy for the young girl, as she was sure that she had to be cold with just her robes. But that sympathy evaporated once the girl gasped. As Addison rolled her eyes, she said Is there a problem Ms. Welhouse? Or are you just being melodramatic?

Addison was somewhat nervous when the older Slytherin came in. Addison had little experience with the girl, but she had heard many things. So she siged with relief as the snake said good morning. Addison replied Good morning Ms.Fitzgibbons. I am doing quite well. I'm cold but excited!

Addison called out Okay children! What you see before you are mandrakes. Today you are going to replant them! In order to do that, you have to grab them as close to the soil as possible, and pull up. It takes strength, so don't be afraid. Then you will hear them screaming. Then, as quickly as possible, put them in the new pot, and partially fill it with soil. As a safety precaution, you must wear earmuffs, as their cries are fatal to anyone who hears them without protection.

After giving students a chance to grab a set of pots, Addison called out Can anyone tell me how mandrakes are used in healing?

((Sorry for the delay. I had a big assignment I had to do. As you replant the Mandrakes, try your best to flush it out over a few posts. If you have any questions, feel free to PM))

Mandrakes are used to heal those who have been petrified. But you have to be super careful because their cry is fatal to anyone who hears it. That is only the case for fully grown mandrakes. Baby mandrakes will only knock you out for a few hours.

Emma was excited to learn about Mandrakes. Replanting was another story. She grabbed them close to the soil and pulled up with all her strength. Thank goodness she had earmuffs on because they were so loud! She quickly put it in the new pot and partially filled it with soil. She definitely didn't want to die. She raised her hand and said, "They are used in the Mandrake Restorative Draught for people who have been Petrified."
